Grenaches du Monde is the most important appointment when we are talking about Garnacha grape. This international and unique event has been celebrated last 5th February at the Royal Monastery of Saint Mary in Veruela, Zaragoza. The best Garnachas from each country where you can find them are dated in this contest: Spain, Italy, Greece, Algeria, Morocco, Argentina, Southafrica, Australia and United States (overall in California).
Grandes Vinos has get two important awards for its CORONA DE ARAGON label:
Corona de Aragón Garnacha 2015, young red wine, 100% Garnacha, has obtained the Gold Medal, positioning it besides its quality, for its excelent price-quality relationship, if we have in mind this feature among all the wines that have won the same medal.
Corona de Aragón White Garnacha 2015, young white wine, 87% Garnacha / 13% Chardonnay introduced at the end of 2015 has won the Bronze Medal. It is an added value to this young wine in his firt year in the market. Grandes Vinos bet on the recovery of this variety so it is an excellent result.
Garnacha is the predominant variety in the vineyards of Grandes Vinos that show his full potential because of the age of its vineyards. Altitude, stony soil and climate, where the strong local wind “cierzo” helps regulate the vineyard and improve their resistance to pests, in any case where the winery committed to the elimination of insecticides by the use of pheromones as an environmentally friendly treatment.
These two new awards are in addition to the high scores received this month in the journal Vinous, who qualified another 3 garnacha wines as EXCELLENTS (“wines full of personality that it worths to look for them”: Anayon Garnacha 2012 with 91 points (not presented at the GRENACHES DU MONDE Contest as for the vintage being sold out), Corona de Aragón Old Vine Garnacha 2014 and Beso de Vino Old Vine Garnacha 2014 with 90 points in the journal Vinous, especially important in the US market where Grandes Vinos continued its commercial expansion and brand recognition.
